Antelope Canyon Tours From Las Vegas

Antelope Canyon tours from Las Vegas : One of our most popular requests for tours is to include Antelope Canyon into our multi-day national parks tour.  While this is usually not a problem at all, we cannot specifically say that we will be visiting Antelope Canyon during the tour because the area is not always available for touring, and sometimes is closed down due to potential weather concerns.  This comes in the form of flash flooding that can happen as a result of rain that is miles away and sometimes not even visible from the Antelope Canyon area, and can be quite dangerous.  There have been several incidents where tourists were stranded and even killed by flash flooding through the narrow walls of the slot canyon, which is also responsible for the creation of the canyon itself, through erosion of the sandstone mountains.  The dangers that flash flooding poses to people within the canyon is real enough that the stewards to the area have not only installed safety measures directly into the rock walls but also require that all tours be lead by a professional touring company like ours, who understand the dangers and who will follow all guidelines put forth by the national weather service as well as weather watchers in the area.  If there is any chance whatsoever of a flash flood taking place, we will not bring our patrons into the area.

Antelope Canyon Tours From Las Vegas

Antelope Canyon is located east of Page, Arizona on Navajo land.  The area consists of two distinct slot canyons known as the “Crack” (upper Antelope Canyon) and the “Corkscrew” (Antelope Canyon.) The Crack is the more photogenic of the two areas due to the famous beams of light the stream down from above to the floor of the canyon.  These beams will only appear for a brief period each year between March 20 and October 7, and provide a spectacular lightshow that is difficult to photograph due to the wide exposure range, but provides some of the most spectacular imagery on earth if captured correctly.  This dramatic visual display is why the Crack is so popular with both photographers and adventurers alike.  The Crack is also the easier hike of the two, being completely level and not involving scrambling or climbing.  The Corkscrew involves some climbing, and for convenience there have been stairs and railings installed for the safety of tourists.  The Corkscrew is more winding, and does not provide the light beams that the Crack does, however it still provides a magnificent display of sandstone colors and beautiful sculpted walls.

Antelope Canyon tours from Las Vegas are provided as part of our multi-day national parks tour that also visits the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Zion and Monument Valley.  The drive from Las Vegas (the nearest major city to the area) will take numerous hours to complete, but the drive time between parks is shorter, making it a better experience for our patrons to visit multiple parks in the area rather than returning to Las Vegas in between each park.  Although Antelope Canyon will not be able to be presented as part of every tour, we will visit it if possible when the weather permits.
