Zion Canyon National Park has grown dramatically in popularity over the past ten years. The popularity of most southwestern national parks has grown due to marketing campaigns put forth by the national parks department, but Zion has shown significantly more growth than the rest. Zion Canyon National park is one of the most visited places in the country,  and is recognized by most people from the southwestern portion of the United States as a “must see” area sooner or later. Zion is unlike most of the other parks that are in the general vicinity of Nevada, Arizona, California and Utah in that the majority of these parks are going to take roughly four hours to get to from the nearest major city. Zion on the other hand is only 2.5 hours from Las Vegas, which positions it perfectly for single day tours or multi-day tours that also involve other parks. If you have booked a vacation to Las Vegas, you are probably planning on taking a day trip outside of the city for one of the days of your trip to go to the Grand Canyon.  It would be a shame to come all this way only to not go a little further in order to experience one of the greatest scenic wonders on earth. Las Vegas has long been understood to be the perfect starting place for a Grand Canyon tour, because of it's close proximity to the park, being about a one-half day's drive from downtown. Yes, that means that there are stretches of road that are not going to have a single gas station for more than 100 miles, so you really do have to prepare for this type of trip. In many cases, your cell phone is not going to have a signal out there, and your navigation system may also not work properly as many of the roads may not be the same as the last time they were mapped.
