If you are, you probably were thinking of escaping the cold weather and snow that moves into your home town over the winter.  Las Vegas has seasons, but nowhere near what the rest of the country has with regards to cold temperatures, and we almost never get snow, so you made a wise choice in the timing of your getaway.  You will enjoy some of the best entertainment in the world while you are in Las Vegas, and chances are that you will only need a light jacket to walk around outside, if any jacket at all.  This year we are having record warm weather that is around ten degrees warmer than usual, so prepare to come in for the best weather you can imagine.  One thing that you may want to consider while you are here is a tour of any number of the beautiful national parks that are within driving distance of Las Vegas.  There are many to choose from, all with their own amazing aspects ranging from the wide open space of the Grand Canyon to the beautiful sunsets of Zion and Bryce.  Antelope Canyon might not be a national park, but it is an area that must be seen to be believed.  All these are within a short drive from your hotel in Las Vegas, and if you let us do the driving you won’t even have the stresses of the trip involved.

Most people do not realize that winter is the perfect time to visit national parks in this area.  Because we live in the desert, our temperatures are naturally hotter than you are used to.  This is one of the mistakes hat so many tourists make with regards to visiting the national parks in this area, assuming that it is going to be freezing and snowy.  To the contrary, most experienced tourists agree that if you are going on an adventure tour that is going to involve hiking and exploration, you actually do not want to go during the summer when it is hot.  The winter times offer perfect weather for exploration without becoming over heated, and will allow you to spend far more time outside in the park than during the hot times.

The other advantage to touring national parks during the winter is that there are far less people than during the peak times.  Areas like Zion Canyon National Park actually have issues with overcrowding during the summer, and have begun to entertain ways of alleviating the problem.  During the off season, you will see tourism numbers drop to 10% of what they are in the summer, basically giving you the park to yourself to explore.  So if you are on your way to Las Vegas over the course of the next few months, consider taking one of our national parks tours while you are here.  You might have accidentally chosen the best time to visit them as well, and didn’t even know it!
