The Grand Canyon is on one of people’s bucket lists, and every year hundreds of thousands of people visit one of the most famous national Parks on earth.  While visiting the Grand Canyon and participating in any of the numerous activities that can be planned for your trip in the national park area is commonplace, camping overnight in the Grand Canyon is not nearly as popular.  This is probably because of the starting point that many people use in order to get to the Grand Canyon for their trip.  The Grand Canyon itself is located about four half hours from the nearest major cities of Salt Lake City and Las Vegas, all companies having a major Airport.  If you cannot use the starting points than you are going in the drive from your home all the way to the Grand Canyon which is probably a significantly longer driving the 4 hours necessary to get there from neither of the cities.  Most people choose Las Vegas as the starting point simply because Las Vegas itself as a tourist destination.  Not only are you going to get cheaper flights in and out of Las Vegas than you are going to see it’s a lake city but you are also going to be able to find cheaper hotels and restaurants.  Aside from all of the savings is the fact that it is Las Vegas, and if you are going to pick a city that you want to have a vacation and then Las Vegas is probably going to be at the top of your list.  Because of its proximity to the national Parks in the region, Las Vegas is a perfect starting point for almost every national park tour in this region.  This centrally located Mojave Desert which gives you an ability to save a huge amount of time by flying into the city and then starting from there.  It is an even better idea to arrange for transportation from one of the tour companies that is located in the city, which will allow you to rest during the trip instead of attempting to drive and spend time outdoors exploring the grand canyon.  Don’t fall for one of the most recent developments as far as the Grand Canyon goes, which is for companies to offer single day trips that will take you from Las Vegas and return you in the same day.  The overwhelming majority of these companies are going to an area called the west rim which is ultimately not the national park area of the Grand Canyon.  It is far less scenic and also has less to do at this point, so most people will simply go out take a few pictures and then return.  The grand canyon national park itself is far more interesting, and the best thing that you can do is to spend half a day driving and end half the day exploring, camp overnight and then spend ½ day exploring again before your return to Las Vegas.  If you are interested in more information on overnight camping tours at the Grand Canyon, contact us today.
