Yosemite is one of the most famous national parks on earth, and is home to some of the most diverse animal and plant species in the world. Many outdoor and camping enthusiasts consider Yosemite to be the “holy grail” of outdoor trips, so naturally Bindlestiff Tours offers a Yosemite tour. Actually we offer two Yosemite tours, one as a single day and one as a three day camping and hiking excursion. Depending on the amount of time you can spare, we will have you covered on your tour of this absolutely fantastic and scenic area. This tour leaves from downtown San Francisco in front of the Hilton in the morning, and is available Monday, Wednesday and Friday from mid-May through October. The cost of the three day camping tour is $489 per person.
The tour starts in downtown San Francisco at 8:30 AM and leaves San Francisco immediately. We have our first hike and lunch among the giant sequoia trees, which are the largest living things on earth. Depending on the interests of the group, we may visit one of three sequoia groves. This will be determined as we make our way to the area. We will spend some time exploring and photographing the massive trees, some of which are over 1,000 years old and are more than 300 feet high and 30 feet around. We spend some time here before moving on to the Yosemite Valley, where we set up camp and get an orientation of the area, while also deciding our itinerary for the next two days. This area is one of the most photographed places on earth, and Ansel Adams made it famous through his photographs in the past. We will have plenty of time to try out our own photography skills before camping for the night.
Day two will be a day of hiking and exploration of the Yosemite High Country. A group hike to May Lake or Mount Hoffman is typically what the group will choose, and both hikes are moderate in nature. From Mount Hoffman you will get a stunning 360 degree view of the Yosemite park. Settle down by the campfire on day two in order to recharge the batteries for day 3, which is a free day to do anything you would like to do. There are many great hikes that you can take, as well as bike rentals and even a rafting excursion if you are up for it and the weather is warm. After the full day of exploring the park, we head back to San Francisco where we arrive around 9 o’clock.
